Mangalore Institute of Oncology (MIO), a specialty cancer hospital located in Pumpwell, Mangalore, in collaboration with the Karnataka Forest Department, Mangalore Division, Dakshina Kannada, organized a tree planting festival as part of the Sahasra Vrikshabhiyana-2023.
The event was held on 7th July Friday at MIO Pumpwell
Dr. Suresh Rao, Director of MIO cancer speciality Hospital, and ACF P. Shreedhar of the Mangalore Division Forest Department inaugurated the tree planting campaign by planting a tree. ACF Shreedhar spoke about environmental protection being our social responsibility. He mentioned that giving trees to cancer patients and their caregivers and wishing for their lives to be green is as good as treatment.
Dr. Suresh Rao, Director of MIO, spoke about the importance of all the activities being carried out by the Forest Department for the conservation of trees and the environment. He emphasized that everyone should understand their responsibility and take steps in this direction.
Dr. Venkatraman Kini, Radiation Oncologist of MIO, DRFO Sanjay, Beat Forester Mrs.Veena, and others were present at the event.
Mr. Rajesh Shetty of MIO coordinated the program.
