On the 28th of January, 2024, Sunday, the Ayush Federation of India (AFI), Dakshina Kannada and Mangalore, in association with the Mangalore Institute of Oncology (MIO), Pumpwell, Mangalore, hosted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programme.

 

The event commenced with an invocation by the dedicated staff of M.I.O. Dr. Rohanchandra Gatty Senior Surgical Oncologist at M.I.O, Mangalore, extended a warm welcome to all attendees and set the tone for the day with his introductory remarks.

 

The inauguration was marked by the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing enlightenment, knowledge, and wisdom. Dr. Krishna Gokhale, President of AFI, Mangalore, enlightened the audience about the Ayush Federation of India and its commendable activities. Dr. Narayana Asra, President of AFI, Dakshina Kannada, also graced the occasion with his presence. Joining them on the dais were Dr. Sridevi Bhat, District Secretary of AFI, and Dr. Sudheendra Rao, Secretary of AFI, Mangalore, both of whom played pivotal roles in the event.

The programme featured insightful sessions by esteemed resource persons. Dr. Krishna Prasad, Director – Academics & Chief Medical Oncologist at M.I.O, Mangalore, delivered a comprehensive talk on the “Evaluation of a patient with cancer & Recent advances”. This was followed by Dr. Venkataraman Kini, Consultant Radiation Oncologist at M.I.O, Mangalore, who elucidated the role of “Radiation in Oncology”.

 

The next session was an interactive one, moderated by Dr. Rohan Chandra Gatty and Dr. Ravi Rao, Principal, Kasturba Medical College (KAMC), Mangalore. The Master of ceremonies for the event was Dr. Vishrutha of MIO, Mangalore.

 

The enriching day concluded with high tea, providing an opportunity for attendees to network and discuss the day’s learnings.

 

The CME Programme served as a platform for exchange of knowledge and professional development, furthering the cause of medical advancement in the field of oncology.
