Mangalore Institute of Oncology (M.I.O) recently hosted a truly inspiring day dedicated to philanthropy and community service, spearheaded by the immense generosity of the G. Shankar Family Trust. The Trust offered crucial support to the Sanjeevini Cancer Seva Trust through a significant donation, directly fueling M.I.O’ s mission to provide affordable and compassionate care for cancer. This support coincided with the unveiling of the groundbreaking Cancer Awareness Household Survey, a vital initiative to improve early detection and awareness across the community.
In the spirit of Shri G. Shankar’s upcoming birthday, the celebration extended to patient care across all units. As a heartwarming gesture, the Trust’s team personally visited patients at M.I.O, distributing fruits and spreading cheer. On this occasion, M.I.O provided free lunch to poor patients and their caregivers across all M.I.O Hospitals. This noble service was executed on October 7th, 2025, at M.I.O Pumpwell and Karangalpady; followed by the Udupi unit on October 9th, 2025; and concluding the charitable act at the Thirthahalli unit on October 15th, 2025. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the G. Shankar Family Trust for being a profound pillar of hope and support in our fight against cancer.
