On Wednesday the 18th of June, a cancer awareness program was organized at MIO Thirthahalli for the Asha health workers of the PHCs in an around Thirthahalli. Under the guidance of THO of Thirthahalli Dr Aniketh all the PHCs in and around our hospital were involved in this cancer awareness program. There were around 50 Asha workers who took part in this program. Dr D Suresh Rao, Director and Senior Oncologist MIO hospital presided over the program and stressed on the role of each one of us in early detection of cancers and how it makes a major difference in the treatment and its consequences. Dr Suhas V Navada, Consultant Oncologist spoke about early signs and symptoms of cancer. Dr Bhavya K P presented a talk on cancer breast and cancer cervix, and also demonstrated Self breast examination to all those who were present. Dr Divya Jyothi presented signs and symptoms of oral cancer and explained about oral examination to detect early oral cancers. The incharge medical officers and staff nurses of PHC were also present on this occasion.
