On 3rd July 2025, a Cancer Awareness and Training Camp titled ‘Arive Shakti’ was successfully conducted at Raithasiri Sabhabhavana, Uppunda, in a joint initiative by JCI Uppunda and Kambadakone Raithara Seva Sahakari Sangha Ltd., in association with Mangalore Institute of Oncology (MIO). The event was also supported by the Primary Health Centre, Kirimanjeshwara and Samudaya Arogya Kendra, Byndoor.
Emphasizing Early Detection and Education
During the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Prakashchandra Shetty, President of Kambadakone Raithara Seva Sahakari Sangha Ltd., emphasized the growing threat of cancer in India and the vital role of community awareness. He appreciated the efforts of MIO—especially the Sanjeevini Cancer Seva Trust, which provides financial and emotional support to patients with cancer throughout their treatment journey.
Personal Story of Hope and Healing
Mrs. Susheela Holla, Principal of Government College, Uppunda, shared her personal experience of how her mother battled cancer with treatment at MIO. “We walked in with fear, but the compassionate doctors and staff at MIO gave us strength and hope,” she said. Her heartfelt testimony highlighted the hospital’s dedication to holistic care of cancer.
