The closing ceremony of cancer and health awareness programmes was held in Shimoga on 29/3/25. The event marked the end of cancer awareness programmes conducted in all the taluks of Shimoga district done over the last 3 months, this was jointly organised by sahasa and samskruthi academy Shimoga, Arogya Bharathi Shimoga , Mathura silver jubilee committee in association with MIO cancer speciality hospital Thirthahalli .the event was presided over by K S Ishwarappa, former deputy chief minister and social worker, where Dr. [Suresh Rao, Director and senior oncologist MIO Hospitals was honoured for his selfless service in the field of cancer care and for the support extended by the institute  for the awareness programme that was held. Also present at the event were Dr. Divya Jyothi and Dr. Bhavya from MIO Thirthahalli, who actively supported the awareness campaign through their participation and presence at multiple events. Dr Suresh Rao spoke at the event and said that the rich and the poor both deserve an equal chance to fight a disease like cancer and for this doctors with intent of service are the need of the hour. He also stressed that the disease is increasing exponentially and we need to take necessary steps to be ready and face the disease in the coming years.  This requires cooperation from all, general public, health sector and the government. Other dignitaries Mr D L Manjunath and Mr Gopinath were also felicitated at the event.
