Ms. Eilidh Ramsay, a fifth year student from Glasgow dental hospital and School completed 3 weeks clinical observership at MIO. During this period, she attended departments of radiation oncology, surgical oncology and medical oncology with emphasis on head and neck oncology. Miss Ramsay attended our peripheral out patient clinics at Udupi and Honnavar and actively participated in “world no tobacco day” celebrations held at District Hospital Udupi and at our institutions. She was part of a longitudinal research project on “oral mucositis and effect of honey in mucositis” under the guidance of Dr. M.S. Baliga, Head of Research at MIO.
Miss Ramsay was the first cohort of students from University of Glasgow undergoing structured sabbatical training in oral oncology and Head &neck oncology at our institute. This programme was coordinated by Dr. D.Suresh Rao Director Clinical & Administration, Dr.Pratima S Rao, Head, CEAC along with Dr.Lal P Madathil Chief operating officer and visiting professor at University of Glasgow and Mr. Niall Rogerson, Director of Dental Electives, Glasgow dental hospital & school.
