On November 3, MIO Specialty Cancer Hospital, Pumpwell, Mangalore, held a successful blood donation camp in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, Blood Center Mangalore, and Blood Helpline Karnataka. The camp attracted over 100 donors, including many staff members from MIO, who demonstrated an inspiring commitment to the cause.
Mr. Prabhakar Sharma, Red Cross Advisor and former Additional District Collector, addressed attendees, emphasizing the unmatched importance of blood donation. “There is no substitute for blood,” he remarked. “Blood unites us beyond distinctions of caste or community, and we should all come forward to contribute.” He commended MIO Speciality Cancer Hospital for organizing the camp and noted that the high turnout from MIO staff members underscored their dedication to helping save lives.
Dr. Suresh Rao, Director of MIO, also addressed the gathering, encouraging everyone to participate in blood donation. “Blood donation is a vital act, one that offers a unique chance to save lives,” Dr. Rao stated. “There should be no hesitation when it comes to donating blood.”
The camp was supported by Mr. Praveen Kumar, District Coordinator of the Red Cross, who played a crucial role in its planning and execution. MIO’s team of specialists, including Dr. Hemanth Kumar and Dr. Venkataraman Kini, also participated actively, providing guidance and ensuring the smooth operation of the camp.
