Mangalore Institute of Oncology (MIO), in association with Sanjeevini Cancer Seva Trust and Odiyoor Sree Vividhodesha Souharda Sahakari Sangha, organized a Cancer Eradication Support Program on 24th May 2025 at the Sangha’s Regional Branch in Pumpwell, Mangalore. The initiative is part of MIO’s ongoing commitment to making cancer care more accessible and community-focused.

The program was inaugurated with a keynote by Ln. A. Suresh Rai, President of the Odiyoor Sangha, who highlighted the importance of mental peace and financial security during times of health crises. He commended the Sanjeevini Cancer Seva Trust for their compassionate initiatives aimed at supporting cancer patients and their families.

Dr. Suresh Rao, Director of MIO and Sanjeevini Cancer Seva Trust, addressed the alarming rise in cancer cases, particularly among the working population. He spoke about the dual burden of emotional and financial stress that patients face, and how MIO and the Trust are working together to offer holistic support ranging from diagnosis and treatment to psychological and financial aid.

Dr. Venkataraman Kini, Consultant at MIO and member of Sanjeevini Cancer Seva Trust, introduced the Trust’s flagship support programs, Aasare and Abhaya. These initiatives aim to assist cancer patients through subsidized treatment, financial support, and community engagement. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in making cancer care inclusive and compassionate.
