MIO Thirthahalli, in collaboration with the Alumni Association and Women Empowerment Association of Sahyadri College, organized an impactful cancer awareness program on 19th November. The initiative aimed to educate students and faculty about critical aspects of cancer prevention and early detection, fostering a culture of proactive health care.
The event was graced by the presence of the college’s esteemed Principal, Dr. Divya and Dr. Bhavya from MIO Thirthahalli, and Mr. Vijayendra, whose collective efforts ensured the program’s success.
Dr. Bhavya delivered an enlightening session on breast cancer, highlighting early signs, risk factors, and the importance of self-breast examination. She emphasized the role of lifestyle modifications in reducing cancer risk and encouraged attendees to prioritize regular screenings for timely detection.
Dr. Divya’s session focused on cervical cancer and menstrual hygiene. She elaborated on preventive measures, early symptoms, and the importance of vaccination and regular health check-ups. Her talk aimed to dispel myths and empower young women with knowledge about maintaining reproductive health.
The program concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where students and faculty interacted directly with the MIO doctors. Queries ranged from practical steps for self-examinations to lifestyle advice, reflecting the audience’s keen interest and commitment to health awareness.
